No Time to Waste
Renee Boje's case
is proceeding quickly through the courts. On February 9th
Supreme Court Justice Michael Catliff ruled to surrender Renee on all counts
back to the United States where she risks spending a mandatory minimum of 10
years or more in a US Federal Prison for medical marijuana charges that she
got in California, where medical marijuana is legal. (Please see Renee's
website, for further information, at: http://www.thecompassionclub.org/renee
Fortunately, the
judge accepted Renee's appeal. But, she only has 30 days
for the Minister of Justice, Anne McLellan to make a decision to either
surrender Renee to the US autorities or to allow her to remain in Canada to
live a peaceful life. If she wins, her case will set a precedent so that
other Americans who are being persecuted for medical marijuana and risk
spending decades in prison can also come to Canada and seek protection.
There will be
no fomral hearing before the Minister. She will simply be
making her decision based off of submissions from the US prosecutor's
office, Renee's lawyer, John Conroy, and letters from the public. The
Minister will have to sign the extradition order herself so it is important
that she is inundated with support for Renee.
Please donate
some time to help support this historic legal battle. Most of
the options we have presented here can be done at no expense in a matter of
minutes. However, if enough of us join together it will make all the
difference, not only for Renee, but for thousands of Americans who are
suffering the injustices of this insane war on marijuana.
Letterwriting
Campaign
The Hon. Anne
McLellan, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada,
is ultimately responsible for Renee's extradition and must sign the
extradition papers herself. We are encouraging the public to contact the
Minister, urging her to intervene and allow Renee to remain in Canada. The
letter can be as long or short as you like; the most important thing is to
get as many letters to the Minister as
soon as possible, before March 10th.

You can either
Copy and paste it into an email message and send it to
McLellan.A@parl.gc.ca and cc it to Renee for her records, at:
rboje@hotmail.com, or
Print it out and
mail it to Renee and she will save a copy for her records
and forward it to Ann McLellan herself:

Affidavits
American supporters
are in the unique position of being able to help Renee
by filing evidence on her behalf. Renee's lawyer, John Conroy, has prepared
a document outlining his need for affidavits relating to the War on Drugs,
the treatment of women in US prisons, medical marijuana etc. To view the
affidavit guidelines, click here:

Please note: All
information submitted will be public information and may be
read by United States authorities. We need your testimony in the form of a
sworn affidavit, but take care not to incriminate yourself.
Thank you!
